Session

And after they had appointed elders for them in each church, with prayer and fasting they entrusted them to the Lord in whom they had come to believe.

The Session is the council for the congregation. It consists of elders who have been elected to serve for three-year terms. The role of the session is to guide the congregation so it will be a community of faith, hope, love, and witness. First Presbyterian Church Garner has established teams to carry out that charge.

Worship Ministry Team

Responsibilities of this team include: Liturgist schedule and training, communion schedule and setup, nursery schedule, special worship services, choirs, usher schedule, sound system schedule, maintenance of piano and bells, (Rose Gurkin), ordering special worship bulletins and other supplies, acolytes, banners, and cross cloth

Mission Ministry Team

Responsibilities of this team include: Special offerings, mission trips, local mission opportunities, Christmas Shoe Box, Christmas Angel Tree, HOPE lunch, Garner Area Ministries including the Food Pantry, and international missions

Christian Education Team

Responsibilities of this team include: Conversation with Children schedule, children and youth ministries, adult education opportunities, vacation Bible school, confirmation class, and Sunday schools

Administration Team

Responsibilities of this team include: Finance and Stewardship (Karen McCauley and Carol Sims), Personnel (Bill Pittmann and Sarah Kramer), and building and grounds (Allen Hodge)
